Let’s Play Pool!!!

Went to have a friendly game of pool at one of the shop houses after work. First of all, I have to say, it brings back a truck load of memories, especially those of my teenage years. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a good player, and I’m no where close to being one, I might add, but simply going out, and have fun (genuine fun and laughter), is fast becoming part of my life.

My late teen years (about 6 or 7 years ago?) was the time where pool became a trendy thing to do after studies, before that was online mIRC, ICQ and LAN games, after that was bubble tea and Warcraft III DotA. All the different activities of hanging out with friends over the years, and all the excuses for going back home was always the same – “We’re out with the study group preparing for exams and tests, cause the teachers are bad on their job!” – and the excuse never failed to function, I might add. Now that I recall, the only time when I really am studying, was when the BIG one (the major exams, GCE ‘O’ Levels, GCE ‘A’ Levels) was 1 month away. Every other second before and after that 1 month of feverish devouring of information was very well planned and invested on leisure activities. Come to think of it, completing a 4 year course in a single month with some aid from coffee, I had to admit, damn I’m good.

In any case, a game of pool is always good activity with your friends. I mean, talk about the ladies you meet at work, this, that, gossip, complain, disturb, and sometimes, make some snide remarks at each other’s silly mistakes.

All in all? Life’s good.

Back from Phuket!

Well, back from Phuket for about 2 weeks now. Had to say, the trip turns out to be a pleasant surprise. The trip went mostly according to plan, and I can more or less summarize it in 3 words – we had fun – period.

1st great thing that happened was that the plane arrived on time on our arrival day, which was sometime around 10pm in the night. After we checked in at the hotel, we hit the pubs that’s near Patong beach (we managed to find a hotel that is within walking distance of it so we get to save up some taxi fare). Word of advice, be sure you know what kind of pubs you want to go for. Even the A Go Go bar has several versions, so if you’re there for the 1st time, it’s really a good idea to google out the places you want to hit for night life. The beers there were prized around 140 to 150 bahts, so we really had our fills. In fact, we almost wasted our 2nd day due to over drinking!

One of the must try stuff in Phuket is the seafood stalls. The grilled seafood stalls can be found in abundance, and we settled for a stall that’s close to our hotel that night.

The 2nd day was spent mostly at Patong beach. The parachute sailing and the banana boat is a must try, unless you don’t know how to swim. But I guess that adds to the fun, doesn’t it?

When we’re done with the sea activities, we took some time to give ourselves a good tan (my skin is still peeling due to the sun burns), but be advised, don’t be stingy with sun screen oil. The photo above was taken on my last evening in Phuket. We went for the Buffalo Steak, which in my opinion, makes a decent meal.

Generally speaking? The trip was a fun one, and whoever reading this, I wish you were there with us.
