Went to have a friendly game of pool at one of the shop houses after work. First of all, I have to say, it brings back a truck load of memories, especially those of my teenage years. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a good player, and I’m no where close to being one, I might add, but simply going out, and have fun (genuine fun and laughter), is fast becoming part of my life.
My late teen years (about 6 or 7 years ago?) was the time where pool became a trendy thing to do after studies, before that was online mIRC, ICQ and LAN games, after that was bubble tea and Warcraft III DotA. All the different activities of hanging out with friends over the years, and all the excuses for going back home was always the same – “We’re out with the study group preparing for exams and tests, cause the teachers are bad on their job!” – and the excuse never failed to function, I might add. Now that I recall, the only time when I really am studying, was when the BIG one (the major exams, GCE ‘O’ Levels, GCE ‘A’ Levels) was 1 month away. Every other second before and after that 1 month of feverish devouring of information was very well planned and invested on leisure activities. Come to think of it, completing a 4 year course in a single month with some aid from coffee, I had to admit, damn I’m good.
In any case, a game of pool is always good activity with your friends. I mean, talk about the ladies you meet at work, this, that, gossip, complain, disturb, and sometimes, make some snide remarks at each other’s silly mistakes.
All in all? Life’s good.
